Poolside Safety Tips

water-safety-month

Summertime is here and with water being a great way to have fun, it’s important to practice water safety. One of the best things you can do to be prepared for this summer is to follow the tips below for poolside water safety!

Barriers: Safeguard your pool with a 4-sided fence with a self-latching gate, door, locks and alarms. Creating a barrier can help keep kids out of the pool unattended.

Routines: Create strong routines for entering the pool with adult permission.

Engagement: Always be in the water with unskilled swimmers.

Supervision: Designate someone to be the water guardian to actively supervise during swim times. Keep eyes on kids at all times in the water.

Play: Play with your child and always keep them within arm’s reach.

Clean Up: Ensure that barriers are in place and that toys and temptations are removed from the pool area when swim time is over.

Swim Aids: A child rliant upon a floatation device is not safe, competent, or an independent “swimmer”. They require active supervision in the water.

Photos: Post or share swim time photos later. Please, do not divide your attention. your child’s safety is important.

If you have any questions or would like more information on further water safety, please reach out to us at Coastal Swim Academy.
